Accepted Web 2.0 Tools

We are pleased to let you know that the list of Accepted Web 2.0 Tools is now available for you to view.  You can find the list under Educational Technology – Existing Web 2.0 Tools Lookup.

When you look up a tool, you will be redirected to a page that outlines the tool, tool status, description, expiry date, and modifications.  If you agree to what’s listed on the page, you can click on “Use an Existing PIA form” which is a short checklist that needs to be submitted.

We’re listening. Love your feedback.

In response to feedback from schools and teachers, the website for the Web 2.0 Guidelines are currently being simplified and revised.  You can continue to use the Guidelines, and submit the Privacy Impact Assessment.

Launch of the CBE’s Web 2.0 Guidelines

Learning Innovation has worked with CBE Legal Services and FOIP’s Privacy and Access Officer and together we are pleased to announce the launch of the Web 2.0 Guidelines. These Guidelines have been developed in response to an overwhelming request by schools and departments who want to use Web 2.0 tools or applications that require the transfer of student data (i.e. students’ name, gender, email addresses, etc.) to the host site. The Guidelines build on the foundation we have laid with Digital Citizenship and will help support the personalization of learning by not only helping schools and departments assess the educational value of each Web 2.0 tool of interest but also by assessing the inherent risks involved.

The Guidelines can be accessed through:
